Artist statement

As a practicing Buddhist, my background always inspires me to create works that demonstrate a certain spiritual essence beyond appearances. I believe there’s a deeper connection between all life forms in the universe, where they are all equally important. While humans often describe ourselves as the most intellectual beings, we frequently ignore the well-being of other lives, such as animals as well as the plant world and so forth. Clay and metal are my primary medium. Sculpting through the earthly materials, I find connection to the nature where the spiritual wisdom emerges. As I admire the dignified postures of natural figures, I like to create the look of power but with a sense of stillness and calm. The animals represent the inner strength of peace and endurance. This is also the quality that I am seeking for in myself as my journey involves an ongoing exploration and expression of the natural spirit through my artistic pursuits.
